"Synergize your analysis of biological networks: Conversion of Cell Net Analyzer files to a format compatible with programs Cytoscape, Binom, Diva, and MFinder"
System biology approaches require the mathematical modeling of cell function. At this aim, several levels of biological activity (i.e., signal transduction, gene transcription, metabolism) have to be integrated.
A natural framework for such models is their formalization by differential equations (DE). However, DE applications many times are prevented due to a great number of experimental parameters are required.
This problem is exacerbated even more when networks with increasing size are analyzed.
Moreover, for the type of question that frequently is attempted to be answered by a model, often is enough to obtain a qualitative prediction rather than an exhaustive numerical estimation. In this context, qualitative modeling methods)(Boolean Logic)(1) and semi-quantitative (Multi-valued Logic, MUVAL(2) ) offer an alternative.
